A new music video network

We love music. Who doesn't? And we really love music videos—they're one of the coolest ways to experience a song. Music video takes the boundless artistic opportunities available to musicians and gives them another creative dimension to explore.

Music videos are, by far, the most watched type of video on YouTube. But no network today focuses solely on music videos. So that's what we're doing. We're building a platform that will celebrate the huge, untapped pool of talent and creativity that is independent music video.

Music from the other 99%

Only a tiny fraction of music ever gets in front of a wide audience—way less than 1% of the music being made at any given time. We think that's a shame. We know it's easy to find the latest Rihanna and Justin Bieber videos on YouTube, but there's no existing website or network that focuses on connecting independent artists with an audience. That's where SOLFEGE comes in.

Now and forever, we are committed to hosting, running, and celebrating independent music videos. Independent music is a huge, varied, and oft-neglected fountain of creativity, but even the biggest websites in the world don't respect it (see here and here). We are so excited to give independent music the respect and visibility that it deserves.

Two platforms, one vision

Half of our site will be a music video feed like classic MTV. Our VJs will sift through the thousands of music videos hosted on our site and run the most exciting videos every day on a 24/7 online channel.

The other half will be a searchable, sortable hub for music videos—like YouTube but dedicated only to independent music. Independent artists will upload their videos for viewers to discover, watch, and share.

As a user, you'll have a choice: either sit back and watch old-school TV, or lean in, click around and watch whatever you want. Both platforms will be available on all devices: laptop, tablet, or mobile.

Profits shared with artists

Without artists, this network doesn't exist. So we're going to share our profits with the artists whose videos we host. Unlike Spotify and similar services, we're not looking to pay artists as little as possible—we want to make these artists as much money as we can.

It'll be free for an artist to make an account and upload a video, and it'll be free for everyone to watch. At the end of each month, we'll take the money we have earned from advertising and sponsorships, divide it up, and send it directly to the artists. The more popular a video is, the more money it makes.

We want to share as much as we possibly can with our creative partners, while at the same time making sure that the network keeps the lights on going forward.
